BATTLE OF THE SOUND

Event Branding

This year was the Thunderbirds’ first Battle of the Sound game held at Climate Pledge Arena. I had the opportunity to be involved in almost every step of its creation. From the naming, to the logo, to all of the external marketing, print, and in-game production.

It was INCREDIBLE to see things I created on the screens at Climate Pledge Arena (which has 28,175 square feet of digital signage according to its website)

You could say it was a pretty surreal experience.

When tasked with creating the logo for this event, I started by doing multiple pages of sketching. I worked with ideas of Seattle, the Space Needle, local geography, and the two team logos. I landed on the geographic approach as I felt it best represented "Battle of the Sound."

I chose this cool toned palette to represent the icy waters of the Puget Sound and the hazy gray views of the neighboring mountain ranges.

After a few rounds of feedback and revisions the official logo was born!

We've been lucky enough now to host this event for the past three years! Here are examples of how the theme and logo changed to reflect each new matchup.

Low quality picture, high quality experience. So thankful for the opportunity to work on this project!
